Online School of Biblical Studies

The e-SBS is designed to make Youth With A Mission’s School of Biblical Studies available to those from all walks of life that have hunger for God’s Word and want to engage with it at a deeper level.

It is ideal for:

  • Anyone in the Body of Christ who desires to explore the riches of Scripture beyond what they are at present.
  • YWAM alumni who want to continue their studies earning University of the Nations credit.
  • YWAMers whose circumstances make them unavailable to attend a regular SBS or to participate in the on-line fbSBS. For example those that are on furlough, on sabbatical, or caring for children at home.
  • Anyone else that would value some systematic study of the Bible in a supportive on-line community setting.

The goal of our School of Biblical Studies (SBS) is to equip individuals with the tools and skills needed for effective Bible study, and then through a disciplined framework give the students the opportunity to apply these skills to every book of the Bible.

This helps them understand God’s Word as a whole and builds a foundation for a lifetime of Bible study which results in a more effective Christian ministry.

The e-SBS modules are registered with the University of the Nations (U of N) Extensions Studies program with credit awarded upon the successful completion of each module. One credit is awarded for every 25 hours of study. You will be registered with the U of N Extension Studies and a certificate sent to you upon module completion. The modules and current module credit value are listed below.

The course involves disciplined self-study of the Bible. Students are trained in observation of what the text actually says. They are taught the principles of interpretation, considering historical and linguistic background information, to discern what the text meant to the original readers, and from this to draw application, what the text means to us today, both individually and corporately.

Using these three steps, the Bible can be read up to five times, outlined and charted. These charts, which are paragraph by paragraph breakdowns of each book, become valuable aids in future study, teaching and preaching.

Now Does the Course Work

Module One lays the foundation for the course teaching the principle of the inductive approach, and particular method of study employed in this course. This module uses the letters of Philemon, Galatians and Titus. Module Two continues this foundational instruction using Mark and Luke’s Gospel and Acts. When these modules have been completed other modules can be completed in any order although some modules do have prerequisites.

After completing Modules One and Two you have the option of choosing any of the Modules: Three to Seventeen, with the different genres including Law, Historical Narrative, Wisdom, Psalms and Prophets, each with their own introduction.
